Come join RSPPs Stewardship Team to restore native habitats! We will be removing invasive species, and planting native trees in their place. Please wear sun protection, bring water to drink, and wear comfortable closed-toed shoes. Long pants tucked into your socks are recommended to prevent exposure to ticks and poison ivy. Shovels and gloves will be provided. Please enter at 25 Sleepy Hollow Rd, Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591. Do NOT go to the main park entrance. You will be directed to off-street parking from there. In case of bad weather, you will be notified by 5 pm the day prior. Max: 20 people. Registration required.

Intro to iNaturalist

Learn how to create and contribute observations for the global scientific community by using iNaturalist. In this workshop, we'll explore both the website and smartphone app of iNaturalist —a community-based education and science organization for those curious about nature, interested in improving their familiarity of local organisms and sharpening their identification skills. Part of this class will be inside and part outside on the grounds. Photography is an important element when creating these natural observations. Receive first-hand practice as we walk through RSPP and learn how to take clear, concise photographs that optimize your subject. This class will also briefly cover SEEK, an app that uses the iNaturalist database but does not require you to make an account. Cost: $4. Parking: $6 per vehicle.

Summer Solstice Forest Bathing & Sound Healing

Tickets available on May 20 at 10 am, Celebrate the summer solstice during this special event co-hosted by certified forest therapist, Cindy Olsen, and sound healer, Dayna Gralla. Enjoy a mindful stroll in the woods and connect with nature through sensory exploration inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, "forest bathing". This journey will lead you to the Glacial Erratic for a restorative sound healing experience where crystal singing bowls, chimes, and a variety of soothing instruments will guide your meditation. Finish with herbal tea under the trees as you take a moment to reflect. The walk is 1 mile round trip. No dogs please. Max: 30 people. Ages 18+. Cost: $8. Parking: $6 per vehicle.

Rockefeller Park Preservation Award for her tremendous work in supporting parks throughout the state.

Hike with Mike: Swan Lake—Overlook to Lakeside

This three-mile, two-hour (depending on weather) hike will offer you views of Swan Lake from the surrounding hillsides as well as from the trails encircling the lake. Our initial lake vista will be from the Overlook Trail with the final view emerging as we exit the Brook Trail. You'll want to come back for our fall foliage spectacular.
