Please dress weather-appropriate, and feel free to bring snowmobiles, snowshoes, or skis if there is snow. Join us for an easy yet invigorating 3-mile round-trip walk along a secluded section of the trail heading east along Oil Creek. This hike will be led by members of the Hinsdale Historical Society, who will serve hot chocolate afterward. The event is open to all ages and leashed pets. This hike offers a distance of 1.5 to 4.5 miles, depending on your pace, and is open to all ages and leashed pets. Severe weather updates can be found on the park's Facebook page. This event offers three starting points for a hike that will all end with a delicious lunch and campfire celebration at the York Landing Parking Area at 12:15 pm. All hikes will showcase unique views of farmland, forest, and the Genesee River. Piffard, Rt 63 – Yard of Ale restaurant parking lot (3226 Genesee St, Piffard 14533) – hike north 2.8 miles, Fowlerville, Fowlerville Rd (coordinates: 42.891654, -77.823686) – hike south 2.6 miles, York, York Landing Parking Area (coordinates: 42.864631, -77.851023) – hike north/south The hikes range from 2 to 6 miles and are open to all ages and leashed pets. Genesee Land Trust invites people of all ages and abilities to kick off the New Year with a special cocoa toast (bring mug) to celebrate the return of the fisher to Brookdale Preserve. The fisher, a key member of the forest ecosystem, was once nearly hunted to extinction but is now making a comeback thanks to conservation efforts. This event will feature a stroll along the Genesee Valley Greenway State Park trail, where you'll have the opportunity to search for signs of the fisher while learning more about this fascinating tree-climbing critter. The hike is 2-4 miles round trip, with the option to go up to 4 miles (2 miles to the scenic double-arched stone culvert, then 2 miles back). This family-friendly event allows participants to move at their own pace and for as long or short as they like. Be a part of the statewide Martin Luther King Jr. Food Drive by bringing a non-perishable food item.
