Summer is here, come learn kayaking with us! This wonderful summer time paddle is a great way to learn a new fun way to spend time outside. The Park Naturalist will lead this beginner's paddle around the lake pointing out signs of summer and other wonderful sights that are more enjoyable from an up-close perspective given by a kayak.

Programs are weather permitting and are subject to change. Please call the park office to confirm event date, time and location. Participants should be prepared to spend time outside and are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing and footwear. There is a program fee of $2 adults and children and $1 for seniors.

Free Learn to Swim Program

This free program at Moreau Lake will include two classes during each time slot, one for parents & tots, and one for youth (ages 5-10).

The program will run from July 20-July 31, at 9:15-10am and 5-5:45pm.

Participants' parents are asked to sign-up ahead of time in person at the desired park as space is limited and expected to fill up quickly. Each swim program is 40 to 45 minutes in duration and participants who complete a majority of the lessons in the program in which they enroll will also receive a State Parks Learn-to-Swim "kit."

*Please note that the classes at Moreau Lake have reached capacity. There is a waiting list for those still interested. Please contact the park office directly for more information.

This moderate hike will challenge and impress. Hiking along the palmertown range, this trail brings you half way up the mtn and past some porcupine habitats and not frequently seen trees. Please come prepared for weather and and bugs.

Harrelson and Daryl are our two resident terrestrial turtles who will be spending their days with us. Come and spend some time learning about their habits, habitat, diet and what life would look like in the wild. Each turtle has an interesting story of how they came to live with us and those stories will be shared with you during this class. This class will be held in our beautiful Nature Center.

This short, moderate hike has a few steep sections, which will take participants to the top of the Palmertown Range. This overlook presents spectacular views of the Luzerne Mountains and Hudson River. Bring snack, H20 or a lunch to enjoy at the overlook.
